Former Bellaghy and Derry player Karl Diamond is another member of the recently revamped Derry GAA Development Squad system.
He leads the U16 Management team who continue their preparations this Saturday with a session at Owenbeg (2.30pm).
Derry's Director of Football Brian McIver has been active in getting a pool of coaches involved from U15 to Academy level with specialised roles also being carried out as Derry aim to build on last year's success in the Ulster Minor Championship.
Current minor manager Damian McErlain has been linking in with school managers to help build a working relationship for the greater good of Derry GAA. Another important development sees the minor squad working in tandem with the U17 group to develop players for the 2017 county minor panel.
