Larkin Cup Update

A short roundup of this week's Larkin Cup games.

The Glen v Loup semi-final has been rescheduled for Tuesday (8pm) in Loup.

Loup 5-7 Swatragh 1-8
Loup were always in control of this quarter-final played in prefect conditions under the Davitt Park floodlights.

An early penalty from Declan McVey set Loup on their way.  In game that rained goals Loup once had the ball in the Swatragh net, this time as a result of a fine team move and Brian Doyle applied the finish.

Anthony O'Neill had a measured assist for Michael McVey's goal just before half time as Loup led 3-3 to 0-4.

Michael McVey got another goal before half time, a nice assist by Anthony O’Neill to put the Loup in front at half time 3-3 to 0-4.

Points from James Kearney and a Niall McAtamney goal help Swatragh back into the game but it wasn't enough. Loup were rampant.

Sean Rocks and a second penalty hit two more goals before Gavin Mallon founded off a fine 
performance with two points when sprung from the bench.

Loup Scorers: Declan McVey (2-2), Brian Doyle (1-1), Sean Rocks (1-0), Michael McVey (1-0),Gavin Mallon (0-2), Aidan McAlynn (0-1) and Anthony O'Neill (0-1).

Swatragh Scorers: James Kearney (0-4), Niall McAtamney (1-0), Fintan McGurk (0-2), Peadar Coyle (0-1) and Pearse McWilliams (0-1).

Semi Final - Slaughtneil 1-9 Greenlough 0-7
With the sides level at half time (1-2 to 0-5) Slaughtneil pushed on in the second half to qualify for this season’s Larkin Cup Final.

Cormac O’Doherty had a great game for Slaughtneil and with ten minutes to the break he set up Ronan Bradley for the game’s only goal.

In the second half Slaughtneil kicked on after time and late points from Cormac O’Doherty, Enda McKaigue and Frank McEldowney to ensure victory.

Slaughtneil Scorers: Cormac O’Doherty (0-4), Ronan Bradley (1-0), Enda McKaigue (0-2), Frank ‘Twin’ McEldowney (0-1), Fergal McEldowney (0-1) and Proinsias Burke (0-1).


Greenlough Scorers: Conall McErlean (0-2), Christopher Maguire (0-2), Christopher Kearney (0-1), Stefan Lynn (0-1) and Christopher Lagan (0-1)
