A brief roundup of this week's Larkin Cup action as Loup and Slaughtneil progress to the next round.
Loup 0-10 Lavey 0-9
Under new manager Johnny McBride (pic right) Loup have put in a savage pre-season by all reports. On Tuesday night they met another championship contender Lavey in round one of the Larkin Cup.
Both teams went at it hammer and tongs for the hour with serious workrate on show. Anthony McGurk (0-4) was the chief marksman for Lavey and Loup had nine different scorers including Declan McVey who kicked the late winner.
Loup scorers: Declan McVey (0-2), Glen Martin (0-1), Connor McVey (0-1), Fergal McVey (0-1), Dominic McVey (0-1), Brian Doyle (0-1), Aidan McAlynn (0-1), Ciaran Devlin (0-1) and Anthony O’Neill (0-1).
Lavey Scorers: Anthony McGurk (0-4), Dermot O'Neill (0-2), Chrissy Henry (0-1), Declan Hughes (0-1 45') and Ryan Farren (0-1).
Magherafelt 1-7 Slaughtneil 2-15
Last summer Magherafelt pushed the Emmets all the way in two enthralling championship encounters but in this Larkin Cup tie both teams were missing a host of players.
Slaughtneil led by three points after an action packed first half that produced three goals, from Ronan Bradley, Brendan McEldowney and Magherafelt’s Stephen Lagan.
In the second half Slaughtneil with Kevin O’Neill on song pulled away for a comfortable victory.

Magherafelt Scorers: Antone McElhone (0-4), Stephen Lagan (1-0), Shay Murphy (0-2) and Philip McCusker (0-1).
On Friday night (7.30) Bellaghy will host Greenlough.
