Wins for Glen and Greenlough

Two more ties in this season's Larkin Cup took place on Saturday as clubs continue with their preseason plans.

Glen 1-14 Ballinderry 0-5
It was a busy weekend for Ballinderry who fielded a reserve team after their Ulster League exploits of the previous night.

At Shamrock Park it was the visitors that bossed the first half with Conor Convery in impressive form and Michael Warnock finding the net putting the Wattys into a commanding 1-10 to 0-3 interval lead.

The game was virtually over as a contest but the second half was more competitive.  Glen didn't look in any danger and points from Ciaran McFaul kept them on top.

Glen Scorers: Conor Convery (0-5), Michael Warnock (1-1), Ciaran McFaul (0-2), Connlan Bradley (0-2), Tommy Mullan (0-2), Stevie O’Hara (0-1) and Paul Gunning (0-1).

Ballinderry Scorers: Ryan Scullion (0-2), Matt Quinn (0-2) and Padraig Nevin (0-1)

Greenlough 1-14 Bellaghy 0-7
A second half goal from Christopher ‘Lofty’ Maguire helped Greenlough control this game and run out comfortable winners over Bellaghy at Drumanee.

Conall McErlean scored the crucial goal to see off Newbridge in the previous round finished with 0-3 in a Greenlough team with the majority of the personnel that won last year’s intermediate championship.

Bellaghy trailed 0-6 to 0-4 at half time but it was all Greenlough in the second half and this will give them a terrific boost ahead of their return to senior football.

Greenlough Scorers: Christopher Maguire (1-4), Conall McErlean (0-3), Paul Tohill (0-2), Cormac O’Neill (0-2), Conor Madden (0-1), Brian McCallion (0-1) and Ryan Tohill (0-1).

Bellaghy Scorers: Ciaran Byrne (0-3), Sean Cassidy (0-1), Frankie Donnelly (0-1), Kevin Doherty (0-1) and Ronan Brown (0-1).
